Focus

Brian is ClientEarth’s Regional Head of Programme for Africa & South America.  In this role he designs and leads the organisation’s engagement in these geographies, ensuring that ClientEarth delivers its intended impacts.

Experience

Brian joined ClientEarth in 2020 after having lived in Cambodia since 2003. In Cambodia, he served as advisor on land rights, natural resources governance and community livelihoods issues, managed the Ministry of Environment’s process to create Cambodia’s Environmental Code, and headed a start-up initiative linking private investment, conservation management and local livelihoods.

Prior to Cambodia, Brian worked with the American Bar Association in Washington, D.C., launching the ABA’s environmental governance programming in China. Brian has also lived and worked in Uganda, Moldova and Ukraine, and began his legal career as a Superfund lawyer with the U.S. EPA.

Education

He graduated from New York University School of Law in 1990 and is admitted to practice law in New York State.

The creativity, focus and skill set of the entire team at ClientEarth are incredible. At this time in the course of our planet, and as a lawyer focusing on environment, natural resources management and community livelihoods, there is no other place I’d want to be.
